JP Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) has appointed Camilla McKane to head the UK platforms and life companies sales team within the firm’s UK funds business.

McKane (pictured) has been a client adviser on JPMAM’s global liquidity team for the past four years, covering corporate clients in the UK and Ireland.

Prior to joining JPMAM, she spent 10 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and began her career at Wellington Management International.

In her new role, she will lead the sales and operational efforts with the UK’s largest platforms, both advised and direct-to consumer, as well as overseeing JPMAM’s partnership with life insurance companies and research agencies.

She replaces Andrea Hohlachoff who left JPMAM earlier this year to join BCI in Victoria, Canada, as senior manager of client relations.

No surprise

Heather Hopkins, managing director at NextWealth said: “This is a terrific hire for JP Morgan. Camilla brings strong relationship building experience and technical expertise.

“Platforms and research agencies are hugely important partners for asset management firms. More than 80% of fund flows are through a platform.”

Mike Barrett, consulting director at the Lang Cat, said the relationship asset managers have with platforms is “increasingly important”.

“The FCA competition studies have created the expectation that platforms will negotiate the best available terms from asset managers on behalf of their clients. As a consequence I’m not surprised to see JP Morgan growing their team to support these activities.”

McKane will remain based in London and reports to Dale Erdei, head of intermediary sales at JPMAM.

“We have been taking our time with this appointment, as we wanted to make sure we found the right individual, with the right set of skills, to lead client relationship development for an increasingly important part of our UK funds business,” said Erdei.

“We’re delighted to have Camilla on board with us. She has a proven track record of excellent client service, including cultivating close relationships with a wide variety of sophisticated clients and multinationals served by our global liquidity platform.”
