Based in London, she will be responsible for currency forecasts, client investment and diversification strategies in forex.
She will report into Stephen Jury, global head of foreign exchange and commodities for the bank.
Previously Yates worked for Barclays Capital where she was lead forex strategist for the European corporate business with a particular focus on sterling and the UK economy.
Prior to that she was part of the portfolio construction and strategy team at UBS Wealth Management and held several economist positions at HM Treasury.
Jury said of the appointment: “Yates joins JPM with a wealth of experience in forex strategy. She is a highly skilled economist and brings in-depth knowledge of currency forecasting and research capabilities to the role.”
