JP Morgan trust director joins Witan board

Witan Investment Trust has appointed Shefaly Yogendra as a non-executive director, with effect from 1 February.

Yogendra is currently a board member at JP Morgan’s US Smaller Companies Investment Trust, having joined as a non-executive director in January 2016. She is also chair of the trust’s remuneration committee.

Alongside these commitments, she sits on the Temple Bar Investment Trust and Harmony Energy Income Trust boards.

Between June 2018 and December 2019 she was COO of Ditto AI, an artificial intelligence company in Manchester and, according to her website, she was the founder-COO and creative director at the fine jewellery startup Livyora in London.

Her career began in HCL Technologies, which she joined in 1994, and she was also listed among the ‘100 Women to Watch’ in the Female FTSE Board Report 2016.

She is to be joined on the board by Shauna Bevan, head of investment advisory at Riverpeak Wealth. Bevan has over two decades of experience in the industry, having worked at Merrill Lynch and Charles Stanley.

She is also a non-executive director of CT Global Managed Portfolio Trust.

Witan IT is trading at an 8.3% discount as of 11 January according to data from Hargreaves Lansdown, and its share price has fallen 9.7% over the last 12 months to £2.23.
