John Brett to leave SWIP for a competitor at the end of 2011

SWIP’s director of distribution and client management John Brett is to leave for a new industry role

|

Brett joined SWIP in 2003 as director of legal and risk from Aberdeen Asset Management before taking on the distribution and client management role in August last year when Simon Wombwell left the firm.

He has now decided to leave SWIP to take on a new role within the industry and is currently on gardening leave before starting his new job in December.

SWIP is actively recruiting a replacement for Brett’s role although in the interim two of his former direct reports will take on his responsibilities.

Francis Ghiloni, head of group partnerships, and Gordon Phillips, interim head of institutional, will split the responsibilities between them. Ghiloni will look after group partnerships, marketing, corporate communications and client management teams while Phillips will oversee the Institutional and wholesale distribution teams.

Phillips was brought in as SWIP’s interim head of its institutional business having been with the group since he moved across from Insight Investment on its acquisition by Bank of New York Mellon in October 2009. At Insight he was responsible for investment business development activity for its wholesale, retail, institutional and group channels.
