James Hambro & Partners (JH&P) has hired Seven Investment Management’s head of financial planning as it expands its recently opened Edinburgh office.
George Martineau (pictured) will become a partner at JH&P on 1 October, having left 7IM in June.
The move sees him reunited with former colleague Alex Montgomery who left 7IM in July 2019 before resurfacing at JH&P in February to open its Edinburgh office.
At 7IM, Martineau was responsible for the firm’s private client financial arm. He joined 7IM as part of its 2018 acquisition of Edinburgh-based discretionary fund manager Tcam where he was wealth management director and worked with Montgomery.

Montgomery said the hire of Martineau was a “statement of intent and an indication of the momentum” the firm is building in Edinburgh.
He added: “He and I worked together for a long time. He’s extremely good with clients. He builds and develops the strong relationships needed to support clients as their circumstances evolve. And he’s a pragmatist – focused on devising and implementing practical solutions to enable each client to achieve their financial goals.”
JH&P chief executive Andy Steel said: “The new Edinburgh office moves us closer to our existing Scottish clients – the appointment at partner level of Alex and George gives us the potential to attract many more and we will be announcing further additions to our Scottish team in the coming weeks.”
