At the same time the company has named Nicholas Ware as director of retail fixed income, moving him from his current position as director of loans within its structured loans team.
Ware’s responsibilities will include analysis and portfolio management of high yield and loan credits. He joined Henderson in 2009 and has 14 years experience in the credit markets, specialising in the high yield end of the market.
He has also had other senior roles in private equity, distressed work outs and loan portfolio management.
John Pattullo, head of retail fixed income, described Barnard’s promotion as “a natural and well deserved appointment given the exceptional skill she has shown in developing our retail fixed income business as co-manager on a number of funds including the Strategic Bond Fund and the Preference and Bond Fund”.
On Ware, he commented: “His 14 years experience gained on the sell side as well as in hedge funds and long-only fund management reinforces our commitment to growing our fixed income investment management capabilities.”
