Formerly a lead portfolio manager running a $5.8bn strategy at Mercer, Cheeseman will join the Janus Henderson team based in London.

He has 20 years’ experience and previously held roles at F&C Asset Management and Morgan Stanley.

He will report to head of multi-asset Paul O’Connor.

O’Connor said: “I have known Dean for many years and believe his experience and calibre will bring great benefits to our team.

“Dean has an impressive track record of delivering attractive risk-adjusted returns for clients based on his skills in asset allocation and fund selection. His proven ability in raising assets will be invaluable as we focus on exploiting the many growth opportunities facing our multi-asset business at this time.”

The new hire follows the recent appointment of Nick Harper as portfolio manager and asset allocation specialist.
