Premier Miton global equities manager Jake Robbins is leaving the company this month to pursue other opportunities, the firm announced on Wednesday.

Robbins (pictured) is manager of the Premier Global Alpha Growth fund and co-manager of the Premier Global Optimal Income fund. He will be replaced on both funds next week by Barings global resources and sustainability expert Duncan Goodwin.

Goodwin is head of the Barings global resources team and lead manager of the Global Resources fund and co-manager of the Barings Global Agriculture fund. He has also worked as a fund manager at Martin Currie Investment Management.

Robbins has managed the £103m Premier Global Alpha Growth Fund since 2011 and co-managed the £22m Premier Global Optimum Income Fund since its launch in 2018.

In a press release announcing the move, Premier Miton described Goodwin as “a highly experienced global equity fund manager with a longstanding specialism in the global resources and global sustainable growth sector”.

The firm said the funds’ objectives will remain the same, although Goodwin will adopt his own investment approach. It added the global equity investment team will work closely with Premier Miton head of responsible investing Helene Winch on managing the portfolios.

Premier Miton chief investment officer Neil Birrell said Goodwin will “reinvigorate our global equity funds”.

He added: “We believe the combination of his proven and broad global equity investment experience, covering global resources and global sustainable growth, means we can offer exciting global equity funds, based on truly sustainable investment criteria, with real potential for strong long term growth.”

Goodwin added: “Through these funds, we are able to offer investors access to what we believe are innovative and attractive global equity portfolios, capturing sustainable growth opportunities across various relevant investment themes.”
