JP Morgan’s office on Victoria Embankment was targeted by vandals yesterday (14 June), who sprayed the façade with red paint.

They also smashed glass revolving doors and other windows at its main entrance, which were cornered off for repairs. Staff were redirected to an alternate entrance during the work.

Palestine Action claimed responsibility for the vandalism on X, saying it was done in protest of the firm’s investment in Israeli-owned weapons company Elbit Systems.

The pro-Palestine activist group also defaced the entrance of Allianz’s Gracechurch Street office in March in a similar manner due to its holdings in Elbit.

Barclays Bank branches across the country were also targeted by the group last year. A spokesperson from the company said: “Protest groups have criticised Barclays for providing financial services to defence companies which is a sector we remain committed to as an essential part of keeping this country and our allies safe.”

JP Morgan’s Victoria Embankment office was subject to vandalism from other activist groups in 2021 when Extinction Rebellion protesters smashed windows at its main entrance. It was done in protest of the firm’s financing of fossil fuel companies.
