Investor confidence soaring in January – Lloyds Private Banking

Confidence in the United Kingdom’s stock market soared this month, and investors have a more optimistic view of all asset classes except gold, according to the latest Lloyds Investor Sentiment Index (ISI).

The biggest winner in confidence over the last year has been emerging market shares, where the ISI recorded a 22.7% increase in confidence from -5.75% in January 2016 to near 17% in January 2017.

Commodities, gold and Japanese equities saw large rises in sentiment of between 17% and 20.8% in the last 12 months, as did UK shares which were up 8.2% year on year.

UK property has lost the most ground with investors during 2016, with confidence falling from more than 50% in January last year to its current level of just 28.8%.
