Former Investment Association chief Sears joins Marlborough and IFSL

Sears left the Investment Association last year following an eight-month stint at the reins of the asset management trade body, following the departure of Daniel Godfrey in late 2015.

He was previous director of the body’s risk, compliance and legal department for several years.

Fund manager Marlborough and outsourced fund administration provider IFSL said the appointment would “further strengthen the independent voice” on both boards.

This would help ensure that “investors’ best interests continue to be central to their decision-making processes” the firms said.

Marlborough Fund Managers joint managing director Wayne Green said: “With his energy and in-depth knowledge of the funds industry, I have no doubt he will make a valuable contribution as a non-executive director, providing an important independent perspective as we continue to grow.”

Guy Sears said: “The commitment shared by Marlborough and IFSL to providing their clients with a quality service at a fair price is very much in tune with my own values and I look forward to joining what are already strong boards with extensive fund industry expertise.”
