Investec Wealth & Investment has made three appointments to its intermediary sales team to boost its regional growth.

Aberdeen Standard Investments’ veteran Simon Taylor has joined the firm’s London office focusing on strategic partnerships with national and networked advisory businesses.

Taylor was previously global strategic client director for the Americas at ASI. Prior to that, he spent more than 30 years at Standard Life Aberdeen, most recently as head of industry relationships.

Elsewhere, Louise Slade has joined IW&I’s Birmingham office. She has more than 20 years’ financial services experience and joins from HSBC Asset Management, where she was a director for the Midlands and South West.

In addition, Ed Walker has been hired as a business development director for the South West. He joins from Quilter Cheviot, where he was based in the Bristol office working with financial advisers across the South West and South Wales.

Walker has 12 years’ experience in the use of discretionary and managed portfolios with a focus on providing tax efficient investment solutions for clients.

Slade and Walker will focus on growing Investec’s MPS offering, as well as working with IFAs to promote Investec’s bespoke discretionary services in their respective regions.

Investec, head of intermediary sales John Cowmeadow said: “Collectively, these three hires show the scale of our ambition to support intermediaries. By expanding our team with high-calibre people, we plan to grow our business to support more and more IFAs as they build competitive advantage, helping their clients to protect, grow and tax-efficiently pass on their wealth.”
