The firm cited Jeff Boswell and Garland Hansmann’s combined 30 years’ of credit strategy experience as a key factor in their recruitment, which it says is to target investors looking beyond high-yield and investment grade bonds for more actively-managed solutions.

John Stopford, Investec’s head of multi-asset, said: “At this stage in the credit cycle, we think there is an opportunity to focus more actively on allocation within credit both from a breadth of opportunity point of view – looking more widely across the universe of potential credit investments, as well as from the depth perspective in terms of bottom-up analysis of single names within credit.

“[Boswell and Hansmann] were very successful in running broader ‘multi-asset credit’ portfolios at their previous employer, and we think they bring a strong skill set to allow us to build on our existing credit capability and do something similar here.”

Assuming their roles from 20 April, Boswell and Hansmann report to Investec Global Multi-Asset Team co-heads Michael Spinks, Philip Saunders and John Stopford.

They arrive from Intermediate Capital Group, where Boswell was head of high yield, while Hansmann led portfolio management in ICG’s credit fund management division.
