It is ‘no longer economically viable’

Invesco will close its Global Emerging Markets Bond fund after it was considered to be economically unviable following a review.

Investors have pulled a net £3.7m from the £19.3m strategy over the last three years.

An Invesco spokesperson told Portfolio Adviser: “Invesco reviews its fund range on a regular basis and it has been decided that the fund is no longer economically viable and will therefore be closed on the 27 January 2023.”

The fund launched in 2017 and is co-managed by Asad Bhatti and Stuart Edwards.

According to the strategy’s latest factsheet in December, it returned -13.6% over the past year while the IA Global Emerging Markets Bond Blended Sector benchmark declined 9.2%.

It is the latest emerging markets fund to close after Blackrock made the decision to shutter its Asian Special Situations fund in October 2022.
