Invesco Perpetual Global Emerging Markets Bond Fund, and unconstrained portfolio, is the firm’s 29th product to be run by the firm’s fixed interest franchise.
Edwards runs Invesco Global Bond and Invesco Perpetual Global Bond funds, both of which already incorporate investments in the emerging markets universe.
Bhatti, until recently a manager on Invesco Perpetual High Yield Fund, also has substantial experience of credit analysis and investment in emerging market corporate securities.
Paul Causer, co-head of fixed interest at Invesco Perpetual, said: “We believe emerging market bonds are going to become an increasingly important and prominent asset class.
“Conversations with clients already suggest that there is greater appetite for these sorts of products and we have talented managers in Stuart and Asad who have a wealth of expertise and knowledge to bring to this new fund.”
The new fund carries a fee range of between 0.65% and 0.95%, depending upon the share class, with a minimum investment of £500.
Across a 24-strong team of investment professionals, the fixed income team now runs some £30bn under management.
According to EPFR Global data, emerging market bond funds have taken in fresh money for seven of the past eight weeks as investors look to diversify their portfolios.
