Impax Asset Management has named Catherine Bremner as its chief commercial officer, responsible for risk, compliance and IT.

As part of the newly created role, Bremner (pictured) will also work with the company’s founder and CEO, Ian Simm, on group-wide strategic projects.

She will also sit on the executive committee.

Bremner joins Impax from the UK government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, where she was director of international energy and climate finance and responsible for the UK’s international energy policy, the G7 and G20 energy negotiations, and management of the department’s £2.5bn International Climate Finance Portfolio.

Prior to this, Bremner was global head of environmental sustainability at ANZ Bank and chief operating officer at Low Carbon Australia.

Simm said: “A highly respected leader within the green finance sector, Cath is joining at an exciting time for Impax as asset owners globally increasingly seek specialist investment managers who are financing the companies leading the transition to a more sustainable economy. As a member of our senior management team, Cath will help us deliver our next stage of growth.”
