Cowan will report to Austin McBride, Ignis’ head of UK retail and moves from Old Mutual Asset Managers where he was regional sales manager looking after multi-manager, global bank, private bank and wealth manager accounts in London and the Channel Islands.

Prior to this Cowan held sales positions at Lazard Asset Management, Invesco Asset Management and Friends Ivory & Sime.

McBride said: “We have made considerable progress in making our proprietary fixed income and property capabilities available to third party investors. These include the recently launched Ignis Absolute Return Government Bond and Ignis Absolute Return Credit funds.”

Cowan added: “Ignis has progressed significantly in the past couple of years following its 2009 strategic review and the restructuring of its joint venture operations. Since 2010 the business has introduced and launched a number of compelling investment propositions to market that have, in turn, delivered strong and consistent performance for investors.”
