Coutts has hired Ben Hunt in a newly-created role as head of derivative products, joining from Barclays Wealth where he was most recently co-head of structured products.

Hunt will be based in London and will report to Gayle Schumacher, managing director, head of investment office and Simon Ridgers, managing director, head of banking credit and treasury products.

He will be responsible for the derivative products team and is tasked with creating a "market-leading proposition for derivative products that is both commercial and relevant to clients’ needs across all key markets.

Prior to his role as co-head of structured products at Barclays Wealth, Hunt held a number of director level roles at the firm including head of structured product development, head of development and head of investment product development.

Ridgers said: "Ben’s breadth of expertise and understanding of derivative products will be key in helping us develop an exceptional private banking and wealth management business.

"Our clients are increasingly seeking innovation from us as their wealth manager. It is crucial we deliver products and services quickly and efficiently in response to rapidly changing market conditions."
