Having assumed the role on 2 February, Murray is responsible for giving the green light – or ‘kitemark’ – to new investment strategies developed at the firm.

The firm explained that the ‘kitemark’ is Hermes’ internal seal of approval, issued to new strategies that meet the company’s guidelines regarding responsibility to clients.

Murray will also oversee the investment office team’s monitoring of existing strategies to ensure that they continue to deliver risk-adjusted performance.

He takes on the head of investment office role previously assumed by Saker Nusseibeh in addition to his duties as chief executive. Nusseibeh introduced the investment office in 2009 following his appointment as head of investment – he will now focus on his principle CEO responsibilities.

Murray joins the Hermes senior investment leadership team, which comprises head of private markets Chris Taylor, head of equities Andrew Parry, head of fixed income Zoe Shaw and head of responsibility Leon Kahmi.

Drawing from more than 20 years’ industry experience, Murray arrived from a fund manager role at GSA Capital Partners. He has also held positions as a Callanish Capital partner, CIO at Old Mutual Asset Managers and Northern Trust Global Investments’ European head of quantitative management.
