Head of property equities since 2004, he was instrumental in starting the European, Asian and global strategies which total $2.7bn.
The new co-heads of Global Property Equities will be Guy Barnard and Tim Gibson. Based in London, Barnard has co-managed the $1.2bn Horizon Global Properties Equities Fund since 2008, and has managed the $600m Horizon Pan European Property Equities Fund since 2010.
Meanwhile, Gibson is based in Singapore and currently manages the $350m Horizon Asia Pacific Property Equities Fund.
“With investors increasingly looking for alternatives to fixed income, we feel the listed property sector, with an attractive and growing income stream, is well placed for the years ahead,” Gibson said.
Additionally, the team will be boosted by two new appointments. Nicolas Scherf is joining the London team as portfolio managers, and assist in running the Horizon Pan European Property Equities Fund. In Singapore, Xin Yan Low will join as an analyst on the property equities team. She will work with Gibson on the Henderson Horizon Asia Pacific Property Equities Fund. Both will assume their new roles in the second quarter this year.
