He will join the firm on Monday (12 September) to run the firm’s Global Multi-Strategy Fund with Chris Jacques who has been managing the fund since January 2009.

Harris, alongside Craig Heron, was at New Star between 2003 and 2009 and he and his team took the assets under management from £400m to more than £2bn. New Star was subsequently acquired by Henderson in April 2009 and Harris moved across to his new employer until both he and Heron were made redundant in February.

He has confirmed that part of his role is to extend the firm’s multi-asset fund range, adding: “We believe that there is a significant market gap for high quality multi-asset funds at the lower end of the investment risk spectrum.”

Head of asset management Ed Rosengarten has openly expressed his intention to introduce new core funds and, with this strategy in mind, in July Rosengarten hired Leigh Himsworth and Dan Roberts, both ex-Gartmore, with Himsworth running the newly launched UK Special Opportunities Fund.
