Based in London, Hassel will lead the international investment teams in Edinburgh, Hong Kong, London, Mumbai, Singapore and Zurich. He reports to Ian Ewart, head of products, services and marketing.
Most recently Hassel was employed as the co-head of multi asset allocation at the Universities Superannuation Scheme in London, one of the UK’s largest pension schemes with assets around £40bn. Here was responsible for tactical asset allocation and advised the trustees on strategic asset allocation.
Prior to this, Hassel worked at Millennium Global Investments and Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
He takes on the role from Gayle Schumacher, who will is appointed to a new role as managing director of Future Proposition Design. In this role, Schuhmacher will leverage her investment expertise to support the international development and future delivery of Coutts’ investment and advice propositions.
