Hawksmoor Investment Management has named Simon Reynolds as head of research.

Reynolds, whose career spans more than 25 years, was most recently head of multi-manager investments and head of manager research at Octopus, having earlier held roles at Barclays Wealth, AXA Investment Managers and Mercer Investments.

The appointment coincides with the imminent retirement of head of climate transition Jim Wood-Smith.

He will step back from the industry in October after a career spanning five decades. Wood-Smith joined Hawksmoor in 2014 as chief investment officer of its private clients arm.

Prior to this, he spent lengthy spells with Gerrard as head of research, and with Investec Wealth Management as its chief investment strategist.

Hawksmoor chief executive Sarah Soar (pictured) said: “We are embarking on an exciting new chapter. Simon Reynolds’ appointment is key as we continue to strengthen our fund research capability.”

Commenting on Wood-Smith’s retirement, she added: “Jim will continue to write for the firm, and to lead our climate transition programme in his remaining months. He has played a leading role in Hawksmoor’s development over many years and will leave a legacy to be proud of.

“We are immensely appreciative of everything he has done, and I know that I speak for the whole team in wishing him well for the future.”

Hawksmoor is headquartered in Exeter, with offices in Bath, Harrogate, London, Salisbury, Taunton and Worcester.
