Hargreaves Lansdown’s senior ranks have swelled with the addition of five people to its investment team. The hires have been made ahead of 19 fund launches that the D2C platform has planned over the next two years.

No details about the funds were provided beyond that they will “span regions and asset classes”.

Robert Farago has been named head of strategic asset allocation and joins from Aberdeen Standard Investments, having also served as head of asset allocation at Schroders Private Bank.

He is joined by Stephen Barnett who assumes the role of head of quantitative research. Barnett was previously head of portfolio construction and risk for equity funds in Europe at Fidelity International. Before that, he held a similar role at Goldman Sachs, where he worked for 18 years.

John Page has become head of investment risk and joins from Abrdn where he was head of investment risk oversight.

Rounding out the quintet are senior fund manager Ziad Abou Gergi, who previously worked at Barclays Wealth, and fund manager Thomas Wells, who was most recently at Eternum Wealth having previously been a multi-asset fund manager at Aviva Investors.

Lee Gardhouse, chief investment officer at Hargreaves Lansdown, said: “We are pleased to welcome Robert, Stephen, John, Ziad and Thomas to the investment team at HL. These experienced hires build on our existing expertise, and the talent within investment risk, operations, product governance and ESG analysis we have been adding through the past two years.

“I am excited about the new investment strategy we will deliver together, which builds on a strong track record of fund launches, and brings together the best of HL and world-leading asset managers to create next generation investment solutions for our clients.”
