Hargreaves Lansdown has hired BBC journalist Susannah Streeter to become a senior investment and market analyst and to further its media presence.
Streeter was described as a “highly regarded analyst and broadcast journalist”, by Hargreaves Lansdown head of communications Danny Cox in a press release announcing her appointment. Streeter will report to Cox.
“She joins us from the BBC where she has spent the last 15 years presenting business news across various programmes and channels including World Business Report, Business Matters, BBC Breakfast, Newsnight and the BBC Budget programme,” he said.
“In her role, Susannah will produce analysis and commentary across a broad range of subjects including stocks, financial markets and economics.”
He added that Streeter would “support the expansion of our commentary across the media”. The press release highlighted that she had hosted major economic and business summits around the world and had interviewed leading economists, central bankers and senior political figures.
It is not the first time Hargreaves Lansdown has hired a journalist to its analyst team. In February 2019, it hired former Morningstar editor Emma Wall as head of investment analysis.
Hargreaves Lansdown said Streeter had experience covering technology and retail stocks and is also a “keen follower” of central bank monetary policy and fiscal changes. She is a former RAF Reserve Squadron Leader.
Streeter described Hargreaves Lansdown as a “widely respected” investment platform. “I am really excited to be joining Hargreaves Lansdown, a company that I have watched become such an enormous success in my home city of Bristol.”
Last week, analyst Jonathon Curtis exited the firm to take up a role at a financial planner based in Geneva.
