Gosden co-manages the £6.1bn Artemis Income Fund with Adrian Frost and Nick Shenton, in addition to jointly running the £1.1bn Artemis High Income Fund alongside Alex Ralph.
Artemis confirmed that the Income Fund and Gosden’s other mandates will continue to be run by the income team, headed up by Frost.
A spokesperson for the asset manager stated that Artemis planned to add more resources to the income team in due course. They could not confirm Gosden’s destination post-Artemis.
Darius McDermott, managing director of Chelsea Financial Services, admitted Gosden’s impending departure was “a bit of a surprise,” as many wealth managers had assumed Gosden would be Frost’s likely successor.
“He has very much been seen as the co-manager on that fund, albeit, the junior co-manager to Adrian Frost,” McDermott said.
Artemis’ senior partner, Mark Murray, commented: “In his time with us, Adrian has made a considerable contribution to Artemis. He will leave with our thanks and very best wishes.”
Square Mile Investment Consulting and Research has announced its decision to suspend the AA and A ratings on the Artemis Income and Artemis High Income funds, respectively.
Although Square Mile is encouraged by Frost’s experienced track record and his commitment to manage the fund for at least three years, the firm stated it wanted “further clarity on the long-term management of this strategy.”
