Wealth manager Gore Browne Investment Management (GBIM) has announced the appointment of Hugh Stewart as non-executive chairman.
Stewart joins with more than three decades of experience in venture capital. He is a managing partner at Shackleton Ventures, a specialist secondary venture and development capital investment firm he founded in 2006.
He previously founded Strathdon Investments, which he led as CEO from start-up to Aim flotation, and before that, spent 13 years with Electra Investment Trust.
Mark Arkwright, chief executive at GBIM, said: “We are really delighted that Hugh has agreed to join us as chairman. He has known GBIM for many years and on more than one occasion has been a mentor to us.
“As a growing, regulated business it is important that we are seen to be maintaining the very highest standards of management and entrepreneurial skills, and Hugh is perfectly placed to advise us.”
Steward said he is looking forward to working with the GBIM team. “They are a somewhat unusual private client wealth manager.
“Unlike many of their peers they rigorously continue to put their clients first, and experience shows that to be the hallmark of really successful businesses. I look forward to helping GBIM continue to grow while maintaining their high standards.”
