Gledhill left Henderson earlier this month and will begin his role at Axa on 27 June. He will take over from Hannah Strasser as head of Axa IM’s US credit expertise; Strasser, along with team members Anne Yobage and Thomas Kelleher, have now left Axa IM.
Gledhill will report to both Theodora Zemek, global head of Axa Fixed Income, and to Graham Nicol, head of Axa Fixed Income’s credit unit. He and Zemek previous worked together at both M&G and New Star.
“Having worked with James previously I am convinced that his investment style, which is totally aligned with the approach we have at Axa Fixed Income, makes him the ideal candidate to lead our high yield team,” Zemek said.
A spokeswoman at Axa said Gledhill will split his time between the UK and the US credit division based in Greenwich, Connecticut.
