King was with the wealth manager – the world’s fifth largest by assets – for almost five years.

He joined in November 2010 from Barclays Wealth, and has also held portfolio manager roles at Alliance Bernstein and Credit Suisse.

King’s plans, and RBC’s plans to replace him, have yet to be revealed – RBC said it does not comment on employee matters.

RBC Wealth Management has two offices in the UK, a further two offices in the Channel Islands and over 1,400 employees across the British Isles.

In July, RBC announced the appointment of Doug Guzman as successor for George Lewis’ head of wealth management and insurance berth.
