John Hamilton has been head of fixed income at the company since 1991 and will leave towards the end of this year as, according to a statement from the company, “he intends to scale down his activities, pursue other interests and seek new opportunities”.

He has been with Jupiter for nearly 25 years, managing the Corporate Bond Fund since launch in 1998.

In a number of resultant changes, Geldard, who joined the company in 2010, will become head of the merged team that runs around £2bn of assets. The new-look team will include eight portfolio managers/analysts and two dedicated dealers.

Geldard will continue to manage the Jupiter Global Convertibles and Strategic Total Return Sicavs as well as the Strategic Reserve unit trust, supported by Lee Manzi and Joseph Chapman.

Until he leaves the firm, Hamilton will be joined by Rhys Petheram as co-manager of the Jupiter Corporate Bond Fund. Petheram will retain his responsibilities as co-manager of Jupiter Distribution Fund.
