UK equity fund manager Martin Cholwill passed away on 20 June following a battle with cancer, his wife Hilary shared on 30 June.

After building a legacy of almost 40 years in UK equities, Cholwill retired in 2021. He had spent 15 years at Royal London Asset Management overseeing the Royal London UK Equity Income fund, valued at £1.7bn at the time, and over 20 years at AXA Investment Managers.

Cholwill had battled prostate cancer for the past six years, working through his initial round of treatment in 2018 before his retirement. He was a father to two daughters and a husband.

Cholwill’s funeral will be held 8 July near his family home.

“Alongside being a great colleague, Martin was a fantastic husband and father to his two daughters,” his wife said in a post on Cholwill’s LinkedIn.

“He was kind, compassionate and always gave excellent advice. He will be so missed, but forever in our hearts.”
