Franklin Templeton promoted four of its team members to new leadership positions in its global distribution sector.

The appointments include Matt Harrison to head of Europe and UK distribution, Tariq Ahmad to head of APAC distribution, Sandeep Singh to head of CEEMEA and India distribution, and Julian Ide to vice chair of EMEA.

Harrison previously worked as the co-head of APAC based out of Syndey but will be relocating to London for his new position within the next few months. He has been with Franklin Templeton for the past five years and holds 25 years of industry experience, including an eight-year stint at Colonial First State and five years at IOOF Holdings.

As Harrison moves on from the co-head position, Tariq Ahmad will take the role up in full after working alongside Harrison for the past year. Ahmad also served as head of Asia distribution for a year at Franklin Templeton, and 2023 marks 20 years for him in the financial services industry. Ahmad currently operates out of Singapore.

Sandeep Singh, based in Dubai, will add head of India distribution to his growing title, which currently includes head of Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa distribution. Singh has focused his 25-year career in India and Malaysia, previously working for Cholamandalam Cazenove AMC in India.

Adam Spector, EVP and head of global distribution for Franklin Templeton, said: “Harrison, Singh and Ahmad are seasoned and proven leaders and I am thrilled to work closely with them to further expand our distribution footprint at this exciting time.”

Spector said the hires represent the company’s focus on expanding its distribution channels in the past years through the UK, Europe, Middle East, African and Asia-Pacific markets. The US-based firm has been in the field for over 75 years and as of the end of June, held $1.4 trn (£1.16 trn) in total assets.

Julian Ide has also been promoted to vice chair of EMEA from his previous post as head of EMEA distribution for the past three years and currently works out of Edinburgh. After starting his career in law, he has now spent over 25 years in the financial world with Source, Old Mutual Global, Credit Suisse and ABN AMRO.

“I would like to thank Julian for his efforts and dedication as head of EMEA distribution and look forward to partnering with him in his new role as vice chair EMEA,” Spector said.
