Former Schroders Personal Wealth marketing boss lands at Capital Group

Schroders veteran James Cardew had spent a year at the group’s wealth management venture

Schroders’ former global head of marketing James Cardew has resurfaced at Capital Group.

Cardew (pictured), who was most recently chief marketing officer at Schroders Personal Wealth, has joined Capital Group as head of marketing and client experience for Europe and Asia.

In the newly-created role, he will be responsible for Capital Group’s institutional and intermediary client marketing strategy in Europe and Asia. This involves leading a team of digital, brand, content and product marketers.

Cardew. who has 25 years’ experience in asset management, left Schroders Personal Wealth in March this year after one year in the role. Before that, he spent 12 years as global head of marketing at Schroders.

His career began at Mercury Asset Management, which was later acquired by Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, as head of international marketing.

At Capital Group he will be based in London and report to the firm’s head of Europe and Asia client group Guy Henriques and global chief marketing officer Jaya Kumar.

Cardew said Capital Group’s brand strength has been “on the march” over the past few years in Europe and Asia, adding it was an “exciting time” to join the firm.

“Leveraging client insights and analytics to enhance the client journey will enable us to develop experiences that support clients across all their interactions with Capital Group,” he added. “I’m thrilled for the opportunity to lead the firm’s marketing capabilities across Europe and Asia.”
