Fintech start-up Door has hired M&G veteran William Nott as an adviser to the board.

Door is a technology platform that helps institutional and wholesale investors carry out research and due diligence on investment vehicles and strategies, operating in 35 countries.

Nott’s appointment comes as the firm seeks to grow its global client base. He has 35 years’ experience in the asset management industry, most recently as chief executive of Syz Asset Management and before that, as CEO of M&G’s retail business.

He has also served as a board member of the European Fund and Asset Management Association (Efama) and was its president between 2017 and 2019. From 2019 to 2021 he was commissioned by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport to chair the Dormant Asset Expansion Board.

Door co-founder Rob Sanders said he was “delighted” with Nott’s appointment.

He added: “Will’s experience and expertise will help us continue to bring together and scale the community of asset managers and professional investors that seek to transform the way information is exchanged for due diligence.”

Nott said: “I’m looking forward to working with Door’s board and the business. Door is helping asset managers and their clients address some of the seismic shifts shaping our industry: digitisation, efficiencies to meet margin compression and supporting transparency and reporting around sustainability.

“Having worked with professional investors and asset managers throughout my career, I see a real need for this global digital utility to simplify and enable a two-way flow of real-time information.”
