Former Hargreaves veteran Laith Khalaf resurfaces at AJ Bell

Khalaf praises ‘low cost’ platform as he joins on 10-month contract

Former Hargreaves Lansdown veteran Laith Khalaf has resurfaced at rival platform AJ Bell to become a financial analyst within its communications team.

Khalaf left Hargreaves Lansdown in August 2019, several months after the Woodford Equity Income fund suspension, which had tarnished the company’s brand.

He had started his career at the Bristol-based firm in 2001 after graduating from Cambridge University with philosophy.

“After a brief career break, the batteries are recharged and I’m raring to go,” Khalaf said in a press release. “I’m really pleased to be joining such a brilliant team at AJ Bell.”

He emphasised that AJ Bell is a low cost platform and said the company had been at the forefront of providing investors with simple, timely information.

His contract will initially last 10 months as maternity cover.

Hargreaves Lansdown has also seen a number of changes to its analyst team with Khalaf’s departure coming six months after former Morningstar senior international editor Emma Wall joined Hargreaves as head of investment analysis.

Last month, Mark Dampier retired from Hargreaves Lansdown after 38 years at the firm, while former BBC presenter Susannah Streeter joined as senior investment analyst.
