Former Financial Times editor joins HSBC Global Asset Management

The bank’s funds arm is launching a new content and research division

Former Financial Times section editor Stuart Kirk has joined HSBC Global Asset Management to head up research and insights.

Kirk (pictured) joins HSBC Gam from the research institute at DWS having switched over from Deutsche Bank, where he was global head of multi-asset and thematic research. Prior to that he was editor of the Financial Times’ Lex column, having joined the newspaper in 2006 and remaining in place for seven years.

Kirk also worked in the asset management practice of consultancy Oliver Wyman and before that spent eight years as a global equity portfolio manager at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell.

At HSBC Gam, he will lead a new research and insights team that will write investment content for institutional and retail clients. The portfolio reporting team will sit within the new division, which will also work closely with the responsible investments team.

Kirk will report to Joanna Munro, who was promoted to global CIO in September 2019.
