Di Bon will join as head of global equities and report to Alliance Trust chief executive Katherine Garrett-Cox.
At Fidelity, Di Bon managed the Fidelity Global Opportunities fund alongside a team of sector specialists and oversaw its growth from $250m to $1bn in under two years.
Prior to his time at Fidelity, Di Bon spent almost eight years at UBS Global Asset Management.
“Ilario brings a wealth of experience in the development and management of global equity portfolios and we look forward to drawing on the industry expertise he has gained over the last 10 years as we continue to refocus Alliance Trust back to investing in equities on an unconstrained and long-term basis,” said Garrett-Cox.
