Weir has held a variety of roles over the course of his career, most recently managing funds including Fidelity’s International Bond and Global Inflation-Linked Bond funds.

The portfolios under Weir’s watch are being transitioned to other portfolio managers within this team, including Tim Foster, Rick Patel, Ian Fishwick and Steve Ellis. He will continue to work with them until this is completed.

A Fidelity spokesperson said: “Andy Weir has made the decision to leave Fidelity International.  Andy’s departure reflects a personal decision to take time out from the industry following a long and successful 19 year career, including managing fixed income portfolios on behalf of Fidelity clients globally.”

“Fidelity International has a strong fixed income team, including 14 portfolio managers with an average 19 years’ experience, backed by specialist teams of credit research, quantitative research and trading,” the spokesperson added. “We wish him well in his future endeavours and thank him for his contribution to the team.”
