The established data and tool provider will now also provide investors with a platform powered by FundsNetwork, enabling them to invest directly in a wide range of funds and product wrappers through its website.

The firm said the service will be priced competitively and there will be no initial charges or switching fees.

Matt Surfleet, commercial director of FE Trustnet, said: “This deal with FundsNetwork will transform FE Trustnet from a research, news and data hub into a comprehensive investment service, taking private investors from fund research and selection through to investing on one website.

“We are committed to empowering our users and giving them the resources they need to manage their investments efficiently. Ultimately we want to help people make good investment decisions and this development takes our offering to the next level.”

Last month FE launched 15 model portfolios for advisers looking to outsource portfolio construction.

At the time it said it was in talks with some of the big platforms about hosting its service, in order to provide a seamless process from selection through to implementation of a model portfolio solution.

FE was unable to respond in time as to whether the model portfolios would be available through FundsNetwork, or whether it had secured distribution through other leading platforms.
