FCA announces make up of advice review advisory panel

The Financial Conduct Authority has released the names of the members of the external, expert advisory panel that will assist in the Financial Advice Market Review.

The panel will be led by Scottish Widows chairman Nick Prettejohn and is made up of 16 “senior figures representing financial services providers, financial advisers and consumer representatives.

The providers are represented by: Andy Briggs, CEO of Aviva UK and Ireland Life, Barclays CEO of personal and corporate banking, Ashok Vaswani, Nationwide group retail director, Chris Rhodes, Hargreaves Lansdown CEO Ian Gorham, MD of mature savings at Legal & General, Jackie Noakes, Fidelity Worldwide Investments’ head of investment trusts Nicky McCabe, Nutmeg CEO, Nick Hungerford and LV’s life and pensions MD, Richard Rowney.

The Citizens Advice Bureau’s Gillian Guy, Which? Campaigns and communications director Alex Neill, Age UK CEO Tom Wright and Sue Lewis of the Financial Services Consumer Panel are there representing consumers.

And, representing financial advisers, Robin Keyte of the FCA Smaller Business Practitioner Panel, Gill Cardy, insight consultant for wealth at Defaqto and Intrinsic CEO Richard Freeman.

In a statement following the announcement of the panel, Freeman said: “’It is vitally important that the Treasury and FCA work closely with financial advisers and other stakeholders to ensure that this review is a success. The Review provides an opportunity to improve consumer access to the benefits of financial advice and I’m pleased to have the opportunity to be involved in that as part of the panel announced today.’
