The former chairman of Troy Asset Management has initiated a major holding in Richard Buxton’s Jupiter UK Growth investment trust.

According to an RNS filing, Simon de Zoete, along with two of his children, Adam and Susannah de Zoete, took a 3.05% position in the trust on Tuesday.

De Zoete was chairman of Troy from 2003 until 2011.

Management of the investment trust portfolio was handed to Richard Buxton (pictured) in May following Jupiter’s AGM. He replaced Steve Davies following a run of poor performance, who then exited the firm.

Shortly after, Rathbones announced it was halving its 9% stake in the trust.

Buxton’s appointment to the trust followed the announcement that Jupiter had acquired Merian.

De Zoete is listed on the Brown Advisory website as an international advisory board member and his LinkedIn profile shows him as a member of the investment committee of the BAE Pension Trust and Persimmon Pension Fund.

He is also a former partner of stockbroker de Zoete and Bevan, which in 1986 was acquired by Barclays to create the investment bank Barclays de Zoete Wedd, now known as Barclays Capital.

De Zoete also sat on the board of the City of London Investment Trust between 2001 and 2011, according to Companies House.
