Former JP Morgan Asset Management and Artemis sales veteran Jasper Berens has resurfaced at ESG specialist CCLA Investment Management.

Berens (pictured) has been hired as head of client relationships and distribution to expand the company’s reach beyond its not-for-profit client base, including the church and charities, to the UK intermediary market.

Berens joins CCLA from business consultancy Stratevolve. He left Artemis in August 2020 after a two-year stint and before that, had spent two decades at JPMAM, latterly as head of UK funds.

In a press release, CCLA said it has seen a large demand in existing clients wanting to invest their personal funds with the company. Berens will therefore lead on bringing its ESG funds to the UK intermediary market while heading the client relationship team.

CCLA chief executive Peter Hugh Smith said: “We are delighted to have Jasper Berens join our ranks to lead our push into the intermediary market while ensuring that all of our clients continue to receive the highest levels of service to which they are accustomed.”

Berens added: “Having left the fund management industry, I am thrilled to return to join CCLA. There are not many managers that have achieved such consistent outperformance in their equity and multi-asset funds and that have been focused 100% on responsible investment for as long and as authentically as CCLA.

“I truly believe that sustainable investment is the future of investing and frankly speaking, CCLA was one of the very few investment companies that I would have considered returning to.”
