Don’t let European politics distract from the China question – Merricks

The biggest risk facing markets in 2017 is the relationship between the US and China, says Andrew Merricks, head of investments at Skerritts.

While many believe the biggest geopolitical threats could come from the EU, Merricks told Portfolio Adviser on the sidelines of the PA Fund Awards, that he sees this as a bit of a red herring.

“It is clear the two countries are on a collision course that probably won’t end well,” he said on the sidelines of the PA Fund Awards, “especially given where markets are at the moment. Everything looks a bit frothy, so it won’t take much in the way of bad news to make it settle down again.”
