Curtis joins from Aviva Investors where he was latterly director, head of local currency emerging market bonds, after being at the firm since 2005.

He reports to House and is responsible for research and development into emerging market local currency debt.

His addition takes the EMD team up to four, including two of House’s former colleagues at Threadneedle, Mark Baker and Nicolas Jacquier.

SLI launched an Emerging Market Debt Fund for the team back in October and, according to its latest factsheet, the fund has a 5.5% overweight to Mexico and 6% underweight to Brazil.
