Eden’s UK Special Opps ready for Himsworth in September

Leigh Himsworth’s UK Special Opportunities Fund is expected to be ready for launch by the end of Q3.

Himsworth arrived at Eden Financial at the beginning of this month along with Dan Roberts, both of them joining from Gartmore. As has already been previously reported, Roberts will take on a global equity income fund, expected to be launched during the final quarter of the year.

Head of asset management at Eden Financial, Ed Rosengarten, confirmed that Himsworth will run the fund in a similar way to his Gartmore UK Equity Income Fund, with a high conviction, punchy strategy. At launch it will be seeded with around £10m, split 50/50 between internal and external money.

One key difference between Himsworth’s role at Eden Financial and his as head of UK equities at Gartmore is no longer has direct business management responsibility. The firm is in the process of hiring its own sales team to distribution through intermediaries including discretionary managers and IFA platforms. Eden Financial already has its own private client distribution.

The Eden UK Select Opportunities Fund will sit alongside the existing £70m Eden Global Multi-Strategy Fund run by Chris Jacques who is also chair of the firm’s asset allocation committee.   Thomas Leah runs the credit portfolio for Jacques’ Oeic, a retail version of which is on Rosengarten’s wish-list.
