Eastspring Investments has hired Mike Woolley as head of UK wholesale, just months after merging its US and UK distribution offices.

In September 2022, the Singapore-based asset manager announced that Matthew Appelstein would head up its combined US and UK distribution offices, under the title of head of international distribution.

As head of UK wholesale, Woolley (pictured) reports to Appelstein, and is responsible for growing the firm’s presence in the UK market. He will focus on selling its range of Asian equities, fixed-income, and multi-asset solutions to UK-based global financial institutions, private banks, and wealth managers.

Woolley has worked in sales throughout his 25-year career in the industry, beginning in 1998 as a regional sales consultant at Standard Life. He was head of UK sales at EFG Asset Management from 2011 to 2015, before taking up a similar role at BNP Paribas AM. He left in 2019 to become head of wholesale at Gresham House, and was most recently group development director at The Superbia Group, according to his Linkedin page.

He is based in Eastspring’s London office, having joined the firm in December last year.

Appelstein, who is also CEO of Eastspring’s Americas business, said: “Mike has a long track record of success in engaging with UK intermediary audiences, and we believe he is well placed to support the next stage of Eastspring’s international growth by unlocking access to our range of investment strategies and insights for wholesale audiences.”

Woolley added: “I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues to ensure global investors understand Eastspring’s value proposition and range of strategies, and why we are well positioned to support global investors in achieving their long-term performance and diversification goals.”
