M&G Recovery, Optimal Income and Global Dividend funds were its biggest sellers, with the firm’s Corporate Bond Fund also making the Top 20.

The UK All Companies sector showed the biggest momentum last month, taking 13% of all fund sales, up from 7% in July. It is now the second most popular sector, in terms of net sales, behind Cautious Managed with 32% of sales.

Strategic Bonds remained in the top three selling sectors, with 11 per cent of sales in this category.

Michelle Woodburn, manager, fund group relations said: ““The first ten days of the month were particularly volatile, with Money Market Funds and Corporate Bonds accounting for 40% and 56% of market share respectively. However, this earlier shake-up has settled considerably and examining the month as a whole, these sectors only attracted 3% each of net sales.

“UK Gilts (including index-linked) are still proving more popular than usual, attracting just over 8% of net sales in August, compared to 2% year-to-date.”
