He will start a new role at Fidelity on 14 November to run a brand new global equity income proposition, the launch date of which will be confirmed at a later date.

Roberts’ CV includes a short spell at JP Morgan (April 1999 to October 2001), Invesco Perpetual (February 2002 to July 2003) and Gartmore (2009 to July this year) with a longer spell at Aviva (2003 to 2009).

His role at Fidelity is in part to “formalise”, according to a spokesperson, a dedicated equity income group that already includes managers Michael Clarke (Fidelity Income Plus and Enhanced Income funds) and Aditya Shivram (Fidelity Global Telecommunications).

Roberts will report to Paras Anand, Fidelity’s new head of pan-European equities who starts early in 2012, joining from F&C. He will also rejoin global chief investment officer Dominic Rossi, who left Gartmore for Fidelity in November last year.
