Crux Asset Management has hired two research analysts to support recent hire Ewan Markson-Brown in developing its Asian equities investment team.
The move sees Ishaan Bhatia and Ryan Soh reunited with Markson-Brown having worked with him as outsourced Asian experts on the Baillie Gifford Pacific fund and Pacific Horizon Investment Trust.
Markson-Brown left Baillie Gifford for Crux last month with the aim to launch two Asian equity strategies in September, one focused on Asia ex Japan and the other on China.
Ishaan and Ryan specialise in evaluating public and private stage growth opportunities in India and Greater China, and Southeast Asia, respectively.
Ishaan, who is based in Mumbai, has previously worked at Aravt Global, Arisaig Partners and JP Morgan, while Ryan has worked at Mobius Capital Partners, Smartkarma, and Blackfriars Asset Management.
Crux chief executive Karen Zachary (pictured) said: “Ahead of our launch into the region, we continue to build on our highly experienced team with quality hires with specialist knowledge and experience in creating investor value from Asian markets.”
“Ishaan and Ryan have demonstrated a strong track record in identifying high-conviction opportunities in Asia through an intimate knowledge of their markets, which will help Crux tremendously as we build a regional strategy that will deliver long-term positive returns for our global investor base.”
In March, the asset manager hired an international sales director to help extend its reach outside the UK market and Zachary added the team is looking to make further hires.
