His focus will be on client service and financial advice to a portfolio of high net worth and ultra high net worth individuals and will report to Paul Summerell, director, wealth manager, Coutts Manager.

He has more than 15 years’ experience in the financial services sector including investment advisory roles with Quilter and Deloitte and most recently with Barclays Wealth where he opened and headed up the firm’s new office in Liverpool.

His appointment follows Coutts’ hire of Credit Suisse’s Vivienne Ng to head up its China desk for the international business in the UK.

Coutts said it had also appointed Barry Grieve, Paul Spann and Simon Livesey to its Manchester office recently as part of a series of strategic hires within the region.

“We have always taken an advice-led approach and by being one of the first wealth managers to launch our RDR-compliant advice proposition last November, this has stood us in good stead in the face of the changing regulatory landscape,” said Paul Summerell, director, wealth manager, Coutts & Co.

According to figures from IMAS Corporate Finance Coutts & Co has seen a 32.2% reduction in the number or approved persons on its books in the past 12 months.
